H.G. Zachariah Mar Dionysius - Our Founder

Mar Dionysius born on 6th august 1924 hails from an ancient orthodox family at Kundara.

"He is a faithful herdsman. He is sent by God" are the words quoted on him by his mentor Thoma Mar Dionysus.

Mar Dionysis formerly known as Rev Fr C Zachariah ,served the St Thomas church broadway and also St Thomas congregation Madurai,neyveli,trichy,thiruvarambur. His grace was elevated to bishophood in 1978 and assumed office as metropolitan of the new born Diocese of Madras on 01-01-1979 His grace felt that service to the sick, the suffering and to the poor is service to god he sowed among the depressed, seeds of hope and love.
His Grace’s zeal for mission and vision of life made him embark on some new outreach program in the field of healthcare viz the Madras medical mission , the vision of Mar Dionysus is a new hope for cardiac patients, an hospital at mathur in memory of his guru and the hospital guidance centre at Vellore entitled Snehabhavan aimed at lodging the marginally poor and deprived patients flocking to CMC Vellore His grace experience as a farmer, a teacher, a retreat father, a journalist, a monastery superior, a metropolitan –all made him to be a sound herdsman sent by God which went a long way in shaping the course of the Madras Diocese. .

HG Dr. Yakob Mar Irenaios

His Grace was born on 15 August 1949 to Mr TO Cherian Mrs Kunjelyamma Cherian of Aruvidan Pallikal Family, Kallupara. He had his bachelors and masters in English literature from Madras University. Thereupon, he did his BEd and MEd from Kerala University. He took an additional MA in philosophy from Kerala University and then did his PhD. Coming to the theological front, His Grace did his BD degree from Serampore University and MTh from the US. He was elevated to Bishophood in 1993.

Mar Irenaios took the reigns of Madras diocese quite abruptly at the untimely departure of Mar Dionysius in 1997 .ever since there has been an envious growth to the Diocese in number and stature.

Mar Irenaios was keen in mission outreach programes as his predecessor .the major missionary activities included andhra mission ,Mar Dionysus disabled home and uplift of Vellore Snehabhavan.

His Grace paid periodical visits and offered timely advice and recommendations for its development. His grace, during his tenure attached the Vellore Snehabhavan to the diocesan mission,as it was priorly part of the mission board .his grace along with the Snehabhavan committee from st luke s church planned to relocate Snehabhavan conveniently at the church premises due to paucity of potable water .but unfortunately we faced water crisis although four tubewells were sunk there . hence the project was shelved. His grace approved to purchase 0.5acre plot for a new Snehabhavan complex on the Chennai Bangalore highway very close to the proposed new cmc hospital campus .

H. G. Yuhanon Mar Diascoros

His Grace was born on 8th April 1965 as the son of P. T. Mathunni Panikkar and the late Kunjamma Panikkar, of Ambipoyka Kaleelil Plavila Thekkethil (Sibu Bhavan) family. His Grace took his degree from University of Kerala, G.S.T. from Old Seminary. B.D. from Serampore University and M.Th. and D.Th. from the Pontifical Oriental Institute, Rome. His Grace got the certificate in pastoral counselling from the University of Glasgow in Scotland in 1997.

His Grace was ordained as a deacon in 1987 and as priest in 1989. His Grace was the director of the Holy Trinity Centre in Thiruvananthapuram. His Grace worked as professor and registrar in the Holy Trinity Theological Seminary. His Grace was the Programme Secretary at Sophia Centre, Kottayam. His Grace has served as Vicar in many parishes in the Thiruvananthapuram and Chengannoor Dioceses.

His Grace was the Vicar of Kadeeshtha Church, Kundara and the chaplain at Old Seminary. His Grace has also served as Professor and Dean in Kottayam Theological Seminary, Registrar of Divya Bodhanam, Professor of F.F.R.R.C., Chief Editor of Malankara Sabha Magazine, Publisher of the magazine Purohithan, Member of the Editorial Board of Bethel Newsletter, Member of the council for the diologue between the Roman Catholic Church and the Malankara Orthodox Syrian Church.

His Grace has to his credit five books and many articles. His Grace is a brilliant speaker and mentor in meditation. His Grace was ordained as Ramban on 4th December 2008 at Parumala. He was elevated to bishophood on 19th feb 2009.
